"Founded some time before the first awakening as an equal rights group under the name 'Humans for Synthetic Rights.' It was once considered to be a group of crackpots and technophiles, buying up the contracts of broken and out of date synthetics. After the first real awakening they began to gain support and sponsors to open Synth shelters in cities world wide.

       After the passing of the Natural Born laws, many of the facilities had open their doors to Echos as well. A crack down occurred, as a new government sponsored division known as the Wing Cutters quickly shut down any facilities ran by the HSR, shortly followed by government sanctions as a large portion of their Synths and Echos were repossessed and destroyed.

        Rumors still circulate that the organization exists, as a rebel, and some say quasi-religious group known as the Equalists."
